The Village Clerk's duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with Village Law, Municipal Home Rule, General Municipal Law, and NYS Civil Practices & Rules. Basic Responsibilities include: At the direction of the Mayor, or Board Chairman, the Village Clerk prepares agenda's for the Board of Trustees, Planning, and Architectural Review Boards, including coordinating and reviewing corresponding materials, finalizing agendas and overseeing distribution of materials.

Performs follow-up activities resulting from said meetings, including transcribing and filing minutes, ensuring that resolutions and ordinances are in proper format and notarized.

Must effectively represent the Village in contacts with governmental agencies, community groups and various professional, educational, regulatory, and legislative organizations; through written correspondence, in person and over the telephone.

Monitors contracts and other agreements ensuring they were properly procured, authorized, recorded in a timely manner and that Village insurance requirements are met. Receives bids, officiates at bid openings, returns unsuccessful bid bonds and archives bid documents.

  • Serves as Health Benefits Administrator for Village employees.
  • Serves as the Village's Election Official, coordinating all aspects of the Village's General and Special Elections and interfacing closely with Suffolk County Board of Elections.
  • Supervises the activities, responsibilities, and remuneration of the Chief Election Inspector and deputies.
  • Oversees Village's Municipal Code ensuring timely update and proper ordinance codification.
  • Administers oath of office for all Boards, Commissions, and Committees and maintains custody of the official Village seal. Provides Notary Public services for Village legal requirements.
  • Oversees the Handicap Parking Program in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Serves as Freedon of Information Officer. All request for information must be submitted on the appropriate form.
